Ok, so. I have ideas for a few more chapters, namely Stranger in this World and Earnestly Seeking Wisdom. Stranger is about Derek shopping for stuff for stuff in A Private World, while Earnestly has Emily seeking advice and help from Gideon about what she learned in God's Will in Earnest. Neither of them have been added to the World of... or Timeline posts yet.

I also have A Private World and/or Intimate Knowledge distracting me to no end. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shaddap.::grumble::

With four different stories running rampant through my brain, WHY, oh WHY can't I manage to write anything?

Have you tried writing something else for a while? It may sound crazy to take on something else, but go ahead and try to jump start your mind by doing something other than this series. One of the things I advise--I personally can't say I ever get writer's block (unless you count my dissertation)--is to do a writing exercise or two. Find a prompt--say a line from a book, or a poem or a commercial (something random) and give yourself 15or 20 minutes to write a scene based on whatever comes into your head. It could end up being a drabble, it could end up as part of a story. It might be a useless passage, but the point is to write for 15 minutes. Don't edit, don't fuss. Doing this exercise is good for opening up your creativity.

Writing, like everything else, is a discipline. If you practice, you'll find it pretty easy to write SOMETHING, even when you're less than inspired. If you can get your juices flowing, you may be able to get back to your story. Worse case scenario, you get to start another one.

Hope that helps.

Man, you'd think that after 40 chapters (just posted A Private World) I'd be burnt out on OI&E or something.

I've been sitting down and trying to write, just about anything - I have several other ongoing plotlines in my head from various universes, and other stuff, even seeing if some of the weird news online got a response, but I sit down to write, and nothing comes out. As long as I'm not actually trying to create output, I'm fine. It's so frustrating!

And no, A Perfect World didn't go as planned either. I'd meant for it to be a lot longer, but I got to where it ended and my brain went "the end" and refused to budge. So now I guess the actual date is going to end up in pieces.

*Tap, tap*

Is this thing on?

You aren't listening to me! The idea is to NOT write anything you've got going on. It's to do as you just said--not try to actually create output. The idea is to create, period.

Why don't you just take a break? Stop being hard on yourself and relax. Go watch TV. See a movie. Eat pickles. (So tempted to say "eat flies" there.) Take a break and relax!

Ah! Ok, sorry, that part kind of went right over my head. I'll see if that helps.

I don't like pickles well enough to eat them straight, and I've been waiting to see Transformers to go with my dad and my brother. (I'm certainly not going to eat flies!)

Taking a break generally means letting my muse trample my brain again. Although, I think part of my problem was that I just needed to complain about it.
